I remember one of the first videos I saw by you guys years ago, Kyde explained how she went to the pharmacy like a week or 2 late to pick up her birth control and they were freaking out and scrambling to get the prescription redone so she could get her medication... Now years and 3 kids later, I come back to see if you're still making videos and I'm pleasantly surprised! I'm not obsessed with Japan as I was as a teenager, but I'm happy you still take us along these journeys around a beautiful country. I dug out my "teeming with life" shirt a couple days ago and just had to check up on you guys :)

Fun trip! I’ve been to that daruma temple. I think once a year they burn a bunch of darumas. Always wanted to go back for that one day.

I had to make a second comment about the hydrangeas you saw. I have all three types growing in my garden. The one you commented on is called lace cap. The other types are connical and mop top. The have huge bloom heads and quite beautiful in early summer. You should visit the e Enoshima candle lighthouse. I believe it’s surrounded with areas filled with hydrangea. You might have visited already. I want to visit there soon.

I laugh not at culture, but at approx 16:07 when Kyde talks about the eyes of Daruma. My Japanese I teacher brought in his Daruma from when he was in the JET program and this kid drew red lines in the eyes to make it look baked. The teacher flipped his shit: "WHO DREW ON my DARUMA!" The next thing you know the teacher had him painting the eyes white with Liquid Paper.
