As far as trimming my ends, I find what works best for me is 'Dusting' my ends every other month. When I say dusting my ends, I mean very, very lightly trimming the tips of my hair. There is actually no noticeable difference in the length of my hair when I do this. And it keeps my ends healthy so it never needs a trim. Also, I do this myself, I would never trust anyone else with scissors near my hair. LOLš Healthy ends are important to healthy retention in my opinion.
ALSO very important is diet! Nutritional deficiencies are a huge culprit for lacking hair growth/retention. Get those levels checked. Great video!
Wow, you look stunning!! Coating my ends has definitely been a game changer. I learned that from the blowout professor. Women with straight hair wear their hair down a lot, and you wonder why it doesnāt break off. A lot them put oils at the end everyday. Iāve been on the natural journey for 15 years now and my hair is still at shoulder length due to doing the opposite of what you shared. Goodness! Iām now at the stage where I understand my hair now. ā¤ great video and so affirming of what I learned.
You look glorious with this hairstyle. Straight up gorgeous.
You look lovely today. I agree with what you have said. People are still trying to jump on trends and still find that magic product that grows your hair overnight. We just need to be patient with our hair, eat well, drink water, exercise, wash hair regularly and include a good deep conditioner. People are still refusing to believe this. I have noticed the trend too with not washing hair regularly, putting raw egg in hair, some people still doing the rice water thing. They're just making it too complicated. Now that I know better I am just taking it easy, enjoying my hair and loving the results.
I treat my hair like a plant. I water it everyday (not wash) just soak my hair in water (low porosity) I do the greenhouse method twice a week. (Donāt do this often if you high porosity) I also focus on internal health. Try to get a gallon of water in a day. I eat avocados cucumberās tomatoes watercress spinach bananas almost everyday. I donāt like many fruits. The biggest thing I do a heatless blowout and just use a butterfly clip to pin my ends or a silk scrunchie. Iāve never had shoulder length hair my whole life and I finally do Iām so proud of myself. I also do take the Mary Ruth hair vitamin with msm and lipsomal added in. Hope this comment help someone with alopecia. Treat your hair like a child. Like your baby. I talk to my hair I love on her. I donāt call my hair nappy or dry I tell her I lover her she so luscious she so moist she so beautiful. Speak life into your hair not negativity. Those affirmations make me love my hair more. Oh and workout at least 30 mins a day.
Love the tips ā¤ your last one is imperative. I told all my sisters this journey is more mental than anything xx when I started loving myself and my hair, it all fell into place.
Coconut oil actually had my scalp hurting. So thankful I read someone's post about their experience with the oil & said omg that's my symptoms. Washed my hair immediately & no more scalp issues. š
Iāve been watching your chebe journey and started yesterday. Iām starting out with the grease because I have an active lifestyle and itās less time consuming. Iām doing everything like how you advised and will continue to be patient and trust the process. I will say that Iām obsessed with my hair. I think thatās key! All of your tips wonāt be helpful to someone who doesnāt love their hair and views taking care of their crown is a self loving act. Keep shining !!
These tips are great. I am regrowing my hair since having a short cut (which I truly miss!). But keeping it simple is a great reminder. Thank you!
Mya, you look beautiful! Love the hair! Great length retention tips, esp the last one about loving your hair. God will bless you when you appreciate what He has given.
The time and attention you pay toward your God given crown is commendable! I busted out laughing when you said ppl call jeri curls sister the diva curlš
Your hair is stunning! Wow, so the hair breaking in the middle from dipping the braids in hot water make so much sense!! I couldnāt for the life of the me understand why the middle of my hair broke off and mind you I only get braids once a year so imagine those who get them often!
My Father and Aunt had their own Barber and Beauty shops. We as a family grew up behind our Dads shop. Hair has always been a thing in my family. I really love your videos and like your hair retention tips. Thank you for sharing and spending your time with your subscribers. You truly are a hairfriend and a treasure. : )
Girl you have helped me change my hair life! I just want to thank you for going through all these details in your videos, sharing your opinion and for being consistent. Thank you. Iām so grateful.
I loved this video!! Youāre on point with these tips. Another tip Iāll add is please follow the directions when trying out new products. I made the mistake of trying new products (without reading the instructions) and deeming them āineffectiveā for my hair. When I went back and used it the way the brand recommends, my hair reflected amazing results.
āNatural hair being more about a mental journeyā is huge That would explain not being easily persuaded to try bandwagon trends. As well as not being upset on your wash or style days. And of course, the way you steward your hair is a reflection of mental health. Iām stressed about school rn and a patch of my hair has gone missing š After 7 yrs natural, I finally got mine to 16.5 inches when I committed for just TWO years. I was in the military, snatching it in a bun daily and neglecting it. COVID was what gave me time to focus on taking care of myself. Thus, my hair began to retain length.
Glorious head of hair. Youāre an inspiration!š
Coconut oil had my head on fire from the itching and gave me such bad acne!!! When I think about that trend I tense up lol
