So this company refuses to take my money. I'm baffled.
Thank you for mentioning the region release issue at the start of the video instead of like, at the end of the video or as a pinned comment without editing the video beforehand. Really important info one shouldn't miss. Quite unfortunate cause it looks so good too
Watched this video from my Oppo Find N5 freshly bought in Singapore. Have been using it for three days, and it is absolutely amazing. Really love the big screen and thin form factor. Game changer for foldable phones in my opinion. The only downside is no getting a top notch flagship camera. But overall the camera is fine.
I'm still totally disappointed because it feels like a double betrayal. I've been waiting since last year for the release of the OnePlus Open 2 in Germany. When OnePlus announced that they wouldn't be launching a new foldable this year, but Oppo promoted the launch of the N5 as a "global launch," I was convinced that Oppo was changing its marketing strategy—aiming to become the global market leader in foldables instead of relying on its sister company to represent them in Western countries. I even watched the live event on YouTube and was so excited to finally be able to buy it. I can't believe that the so-called global launch ended up meaning only China, Malaysia, and Singapore. I clicked on every single region to see if it had become available anywhere else—but no. 😭
Its like there's loads of companies that just don't want my damn money!!
You recorded in Central London, and your phone is still in your hand! 😱🙏 There’s still hope for humanity!
those batteries thickness are unbelievable, Imagining putting couple of those sticked together in S25U or 16 pro max, it can reach 6000-6500 mAh easily
To answer your question, I'm one of those people who uses the inner screen all the time. My Honer Magic V3 spends more time open than closed. It's a better experience in almost all use cases compared to a smaller outer screen. I don't watch loads of video on it, but it's still larger (despite the bars) than on the outer screen. I find it's more comfortable to weild with two hands when open, which suits me when I'm working or relaxing on the sofa. I can't see myself going back to a standard bar phone now I've made the jump to foldable. I'm disappointed to hear the Oppo Find N5 isn't coming to the UK, as I think it could convince more people to make the switch to a foldable.
10:52 Singapore uses the UK plug too, you might have gotten the retail unit from Singapore
11:14 I hate that excuse that cameras won't be as good on foldables as candybars. They already have this giant camera bump that keeps getting bigger and bigger. what's an extra mm or 2 added onto it.
I genuinely believe there are bigger business deals happening in the background. Samsung Z fold has no competition in the western world. Everything that could promote improvement and innovation in the Z fold series is exclusive to China and a handful of countries and at this point I think it's intentional. Z fold has no incentive to grow and develop as a device.
Im in Singapore, kinda baffled when they announce the pricing in SGD. We are a small country and its wierd to see the price launch in our currency... Already pre ordered and will get my unit on Monday.
Europe is living years behind asia at this point.
Honestly, I'm not really surprised. When OnePlus announced that the Open 2 would NOT be released, I was shocked when Oppo said the N5 would be. Why wouldn't they use the brand with the better western reputation? Oppo, Honor, Huawai, etc, have a somewhat negative recognition, due to China. Oppo bypasses that with the OnePlus brand.
Why does everyone keeps acting like UK and Europe are not in the same continent?!
A Samsung specialist from Worten (here in Portugal) told me that it's a matter of patents why there are no other foldable phones available (at least in Portugal) than Galaxy Folds (no Pixel fold, no old Find N). Flip phones are different, here we have Oppo, Xiaomi and Samsung models. Even Google Pixels were available since a few years ago.
3:12 - Unpopular opinion (apparently)... If I want to take a selfie, I flip a phone backwards and hit volume up to take the photo. That way I am using the vastly superior back camera. It only takes a few tries to know where to hold it, then you remember it in muscle memory. You can also switch to portrait mode with amazing results (provided you want to see an accurate photo, including imperfections). With foldable phones, they've made this even easier - fold open the phone so both the front screen and the back camera are facing you, you can now even take a selfie with the back camera while viewing it with the front screen. So why, why, why, do all the foldables have selfie cams on both the front AND interior screens? I have heard the argument that people buy them for video calls, well you could do the same method to unfold the phone and hold it with the front screen and back camera facing you to do the calls. But no, for some people, that's not enough. Next, they want it to sit on a table during video calls... ok, perhaps the front screen selfie has a niche case argument, fold it at 90 degrees so it sits upright (vertically or horizontally) and do the call that way. But why on earth would we need to interrupt the giant inner screen which is the primary reason for owning a foldable? Just so if people feel like it, they can ignore both the back camera and the front camera, to unfold it and use the inner screen to have a GIANT selfie cam preview? You could definitely see the blurriness of the selfie camera clearly before you take it. I would buy any phone by any [semi-reputable] brand, even if it doesn't have an official US or even global release, if they released even a variant of an existing phone that did not have a selfie cam for even one of the screens. Especially if it was a foldable with a giant uninterrupted inner screen. So, initially I thought the Z Fold 6 had finally answered my call, but no, they actually do have an in-display selfie cam inside of it. It can be seen if you look closely. But still, if the four pictured were my only options for my next phone, I would choose the Z Fold 6 in a heartbeat for that reason. It also looks better folded because of the more squared-off design (which folds into a symmetrical rectangle). tl;dr i am used to the holepunch for normal phones but foldables solve the issue (with other drawbacks) so the holepunch should be gone.
beats Fold6, but does nothing to beat Honor V3 (except for newer chip, but that will be updated on V4 anyway), which is available in EU so i do understand their decision to some extent.
What are all reviewers missing and are wrong about foldable: I have a fold phone for 1,5 years and I do not use multitasking, I also almost do not use the front screen. This is nota tablet. All reviews missing this. The foldable phone is just better. It is like with cars, this is a luxury car, everything with it is better. It is not about functionality, a gadget like. It is about a big keyboard. Big screen even with big keyboard. I can read messages easily, emails. Oh, browsing the net feels normal. Just overall, it feels like the phone should be from the beginning. Not some small letters and everything mini. Oh and maps are finally usable as a map. And makings photos on main camera is just a must with live preview on front screen. It is like with small flat, it´s usable, but with big flat, you can breath, there is space for living not surviving. And yes, if you are women with small fingers, maybe it is not for you. If you only are on social networks 9:16 this will not give you (only if you like to scroll Tiktok and Instagram at same time).
