The reason is not stated here clearly. He basically r@ped Rambha against her will after which when Nalkuber found about this incident he cursed Ravan that whenever he'll try to touch some lady with the intention of having any physical relation against that woman, his head will explode into pieces. But Ravan abducted Mata Sita with the intention of abducting and marrying her, hence he was saved from the cursed at that time. Also if we look carefully in the epic Ramayan, we'll notice that one day when the news of Ram Setu being built by the vanar sena reached Ravan, he with the desire of marrying Mata Sita along with having an urge to have a physical relation with her came to Ashok Vatika and was about to force Mata, she with the help of a small straw chanted Shri Ram's and Mahadev's name and declared that with all the penance she has gained throughout her vanvas, even if Ravan tries to cross the straw, he'll not be able to. But Ravan in his arrogance went ahead, got a shock and was unable to cross that boundary of straw which finally reminded him about the curse Nalkuber gave him. Thus, after this incident he never tried to touch Mata Sita.

I may be wrong about it but as far as I know from my childhood, mata sita was the daughter of Ravana. He knew that sita was his daughter but he was afraid of loosing his power and control over his kingdom. He knew that if anybody comes to know about his daughter, the husband of his daughter would rightfully take over his kingdom Lanka. Apart from this, Ravan also knew that mata sita was the Avatar of Mata lakshmi, the goddess of immense wealth and abundance. With such knowledge, Ravana decided to abduct her to fill his kingdom with the blessing of abundance. He indeed was arrogant and had evil intentions for the greed of power but he was also a father and a father cannot have ill intentions (of getting physical) towards his own daughter. Valmiki ramayana is the only original version. Rama kidnapped Sita aakruti only not Sita per se. Nobody can touch Sita except Lord Rama.

This is but one version of Ramayana. Ravana actually touched Mata Sita while kidnapping her (Valmiki Ramayan) but he never could force himself upon anyone due to the curse

Hloo Don't spread wrong information.What u know abt ravanan u don't know abt him ask me i will explain for a weak that much he have good characters. Lakshman cutted surpanaga's breast and nose for revenge she blackmailed ravanan that he want to kidnap sita and want to marry her otherwise she will die but ravana told that he can't marry her but he can't kidnap and keep her safe .so only he didn't touch sita. There is another reason also Tamil people will not do like that and also they will do any wrong or bad things to others like what lakshman had done to Ravanan's sister. If u kbow u can spread msg but don't spread wrong information please. i am proud to be a thamilan and devotion to Ravanan👑👑👑

Its all BS certain people have twisted the story along the years. The true reason he never touched sita was because sita was Ravan's long lost daughter. Atleast that's what we got in our 4000 year old history books.
