My YAGP Journey - From “Failing” to Winning Outstanding School Award | Runqiao Du Ballet Coaching
My journey as a YAGP coach did not start with instant success. In the early years, my students weren’t winning, and that became my turning point. I had to reevaluate my vision—what kind of coach did I want to be? What needed to change?
I dedicated myself to the process, spending 8 hours a day observing every student, analyzing their technique like a judge, and writing down everything. I refined my approach, restructured my methods, and committed fully—physically, mentally, and emotionally.
Then came the opportunity. In 2019, I became the Artistic Director of Kirov Academy, and that same year, the school won major awards at YAGP for the first time. That experience reinforced my belief that as teachers, we cannot be stagnant. We must evolve, identify what’s working, and correct what isn’t.
Success in coaching isn’t about luck—it’s about precision, effort, and the willingness to adapt. That’s the mindset I carry to this day.
