NIFTY's Expiry changed by NSE, BSE to retaliate, will SEBI intervene? | This must be STOPPED!
NSE recently changed the expiry day of Nifty to Monday from Thursday. This change will be applicable from April, 2025. Is there a concern about this change?
Well, if you look at this change only, maybe not so much. But, if you look at the whole "expiry changing" situation from a wider perspective, it is a chaotic spot, for most of the market participants including the stockbrokers and definitely retail traders.
In the last few years, both the exchanges NSE and BSE have made changes to their expiries every now and then. This has been very regular.
And since the exchanges do not really need a permission from the regulator i.e. SEBI - this has only worsened the situation.
In this video - we take this issue head on. This needs to be addressed and definitely put out in the open.
The major reason, in our opinion, seems to be the turnover drop NSE has been seeing in the last few years and the market share that BSE has been grabbing when it comes to the Trading turnover of Index options premium. Both the exchanges want their indices to expiry earlier than the expiry of the competition.
This race of capitalism is only creating chaos in the market and is nothing less than a circus really.
But, SEBI needs to intervene and stop all this. The simple reason being that more exchanges will be coming in the future launching their respective contracts and it is only going to add more chaos to the system.
Watch this video till the end to understand the whole concern and feel free to add your inputs on how you think about whatever both these exchanges are trying to do with the derivatives market and to the overall ecosystem.
