The movie begins in 2005 with David P. A 22 year old living in Miami and working as a licensed massage therapist. He's tired of earning a living by massaging wealthy older men after dropping out of college after one semester, having a fall out with his parents and quitting or getting fired from six different jobs. His career options are limited. David spent his savings on high quality bed sheets to sell to retirement homes, but this venture failed since the owners are not interested in improving the quality of life for the elderly. One afternoon at a funeral, he reconnects with Efraim Diveroli his best friend from school whom he hasn't seen in years. Ephraim had been living in lay working with his uncle in the arms dealing business after his uncle stole money from him. Ephraim quit and moved to Miami to start his own business A E I while hanging out, they stopped to buy pot but some thugs trick Ephraim out of his money in retaliation. Ephraim grabs a machine gun from his car trunk and fires into the sky, scaring everyone away. David tired of being pushed around is impressed by a friend's boldness.
