In this lecture, Dr Mike explains where and how fat (triglycerides) are digested and absorbed in the gastrointestinal tract. He focuses on the use of lipases from the mouth, stomach, and in particular, the pancreas. He explains how bile is used to emulsify fats and allow for the absorption of fatty acids, glycerol, cholesterol, phospholipids, and fat-soluble vitamins like D, E,K, and A.
