Battery powered machinery has come light years over the last 5 years. Are battery powered mowers the right fit for you? Few things you should ask yourself. Will the mower suit your needs and will it have enough power. The newer models are now pushing 56 volts or as toro would say 60 volts. Is your lawn small enough to use a battery powered option? Yes, i said small enough. I find that these type of mowers will mow about 10,000 sq ft max in one mow if you're not pushing it very hard. The toro 60v max with flex power we reviewed today did very well. However, it has a few draw backs. It cuts 1/2" off the top very clean. anything above that it will drop grass clippings back into the cut. Which can be a huge inconvenience and will require you to mow again. One of the major benefits to battery powered mowers is how quiet they are. They also do not require fluid, ie oil, gas. this allows for easy storage and transportation.
