Empty streets of Amsterdam - Coronavirus Covid-19 in the Netherlands
Large parts of the world are currently affected by the novel coronavirus Covid-19 outbreak that originated in China. Citizens of many nations are under (partial) lockdown and self imposed or mandatory quarantine. Governments across the globe take extreme measures to minimize the impact of this global pandemic.
Although the Dutch government has not imposed an obligatory lockdown (as of 28 March 2020), they urge citizens to stay home as much as possible. These images show a glimpse into how daily life has come to a standstill in central Amsterdam, the Netherlands. They were shot in the morning of March 23 as part of my work.
Please be very careful in your daily routine and follow advice from your respective governments and medical institutions.
