Taipei
The capital city of the Republic of China is located in Northern Taiwan. Taipei is a cosmopolitan metropolis with a lively mixture of modern and traditional. The city is filled with luxurious shopping malls as well as local night markets. Here are 7 must-see spots in Taipei, attracting many tourists.

7. Xingtian Temple
The relatively new temple constructed in 1967 is situated on a street corner near the city center. It is devoted to Guan Yu, a Chinese military general during the Eastern Han dynasty. He is simultaneously the patron god of businessmen.

6. National Revolutionary Martyrs' Shrine
This shrine is dedicated to the war dead. There are guards on their position at the front gate and shrine. It is popular for its changing of the honor guard every hour for about 20 minutes.

5. Taipei 101
This skyscraper comprises 101 floors above ground. The observation deck provides 360 degree panoramic views of the city. The first 5 floors are occupied by a modern shopping mall.

4. Shilin Night Market
It is often considered to be the largest night market in Taiwan. The market is formed by many prosperous shops. You can enjoy a wide range of local food.

3. Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall
This national monument was erected in memory of Chiang Kai-shek, former President of the Republic of China. The changing of the guards ceremony take place in front of the bronze statue each hour. On the first floor is the art gallery. Besides the main hall, the large complex includes the memorial park, the National Theater, and the National Concert Hall.

2. Longshan Temple
The oldest temples in Taiwan is popular with both locals and tourists. It served as a worship and gathering place for the settlers. You can see some amazing sculptures of dragons and phoenixes on the roofs and pillars.

This huge museum displays a permanent collection of 650,000 pieces of ancient Chinese imperial artifacts and artworks arranged in chronological order. It covers sculptures, calligraphies, bronzes, and ceramics. Don’t miss the Jadeite Cabbage and the Meat-Shaped Stone, the most important items in the museum's entire collection.
