While minority communities represent a large segment of the national transplant waiting list, only a small percentage actually receive lifesaving transplants. This session will explore the disparities in organ and tissue donation within these communities, exploring factors such as limited access to care, comorbidities, and other barriers that contribute to inequities in the kidney transplant process. Participants will learn about strategies to debunk common myths, address community questions, and promote disease management and prevention. Additionally, the session will highlight the role of community partnerships in raising awareness and improving access to resources, creating a more accessible approach to organ and tissue donation.
