Synopsis | Toy Story (2000)
Pokémon is not just the biggest craze for kids since Mickey Mouse, it's a global marketing phenomenon. The Pokémon game was invented in Japan six years ago and sold to Nintendo, who developed the idea and then promoted it into the No. 1 toy range in the world today. In this report from 2000, Richard Carleton investigates claims that Nintendo is manipulating young minds and that this whole craze is an unhealthy obsession. He also visits a school where Pokémon is banned and finds one young fan who admits "it's an addiction."
