Good luck, M&M!

Rescued marine mammal, dubbed “M&M: Modern Miracle,” has been released following a two-month recovery Atlantis Animal Rescue Center.

Following a two-month recovery period under the close care of the marine mammal team at Atlantis, Paradise Island resort, M&M: Modern Miracle, a spotted dolphin - one of approximately 30 mature males remaining in The Bahamas - was released in Bimini, Bahamas at 10:30 ET on Monday, October 29.

As the only full-service resort with the research and holding capacity of an independent marine facility, Atlantis’ marine mammal specialists and veterinarians at Dolphin Cay, with local and international agency and research partners (Bahamas Marine Mammal Research Organization, Bahamas Department of Marine Resources, Dolphin Communication Project, The Wild Dolphin Project, Mote Marine Laboratory & Aquarium ), monitored the dolphin’s progress 24 hours a day leading up to his release.

Prior to M&M’s release back into his former range, he was fitted with a satellite tag by the Atlantis Team, and his movements are now being tracked via satellite signal (every 20 minutes) by the renowned Mote Marine Laboratory and Aquarium in Sarasota, Florida, with local monitoring of his re-acclimation by all research partners.
