Several Tamil Nadu BJP leaders, including State president K. Annamalai and former Telangana Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan, were arrested by the Chennai city police on Monday (March 17, 2025) ahead of a protest against the alleged irregularities in the Tamil Nadu State Marketing Corporation (Tasmac). Mr. Annamalai was stopped by the police about 1 km from his house in Akkarai and was taken into custody as he was proceeding towards the protest venue in Egmore.
