A Patient Centered Approach to Kidney Health Prevention & Wellness | American Kidney Fund

499 6________

Black and Hispanic people are more likely to have diabetes and high blood pressure, the top two causes of kidney disease, and are also less likely to be referred to a kidney doctor in the early stages of kidney disease. Yet, when kidney disease is caught early, you have a lesser chance of developing kidney failure. Being armed with the right tools and knowledge can help you to advocate for yourself to get the health care that you deserve. In this session, attendees will learn about preventative health exams and how to navigate the barriers to receiving quality care from health care team members and other patients. Attendees will also learn how to manage life challenges such as physical and emotional well-being, and work and family obligations while taking control of their kidney journey.
