Cortisol gets a bad rep, but it’s quite misunderstood.

Not saying that constant stress and chronically high cortisol is good for you, because it most certainly is not.

But if you’re someone without a cortisol related illness, it’s totally normal to have changes in your cortisol! Having NO cortisol…well…isn’t compatible with life.

But the weight gain around being stress is, in essence, a reaction to after the stress abates, maybe only even slightly.

There is a reasonably sized minority of the population who don’t actually feel the need to stress eat, but most of us have it hard wired into our DNA and, well, bummer.

Hopefully learning more about this process helps you understand what’s actually going on in your body and why, and maybe it can help with whatever goals you may have :).
